What’s Happening in Castle Douglas?
The project aims to create a co-authored visual identity and contribute to micro-campaigns for active and sustainable travel in Castle Douglas. This identity should uplift the town’s culture of movement and reflect its unique blend of enterprise, community spirit and access to outdoor adventure.
The artist will explore how cycling, walking, wheeling, commuting and wandering shape belong; how Studio Velo is one of many gateways into local riding culture; and how creativity can amplify the visibility, accessibility and vibrancy of active travel.
The work should surface the stories, relationships and informal networks that make Castle Douglas a nucleus of movement in Dumfries & Galloway, while also connecting to the wider ecosystem of projects, groups and organisations working in active and sustainable travel in the town.
