What Can The Geese Teach Us About Our Food Culture? with The Greenhouse

October 24 @ 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm

When people think of Dumfries & Galloway’s food culture, we might think of our sprawling green pastures home to spring lamb, Belted Galloway beef and dairy herds. But we are also fertile soil for a huge variety of delicious vegetables, fruits and herbs across smallholdings, farms and market gardens across our region. The Greenhouse showcases our plentiful plantiful growers, rustling up imaginative, delicious and seasonal menus while exploring the food stories that tie us to our land and our past.

But food culture has never been static: just as the wintering geese change their migration route in response to weather patterns and food availability, so has our food story evolved with invasions, partnerships, new trade routes, technology and migration. And as external forces challenge our relationship with our current food culture, October’s Greenhouse Supper Club invites us to ask: what parts of our food history do we want to keep, and how could we adapt to a changing food future?

Our October Supper Club welcomes you to a four-course, plant based evening meal in a beautiful pastoral setting just out of Dumfries. Complimentary tea and coffee, BYOB. We can cater to dietary requirements with at least a week’s notice.
