SUMMARY:Reel to Real: Wheel to the Wedding
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of film and discussion\, in collaboration with access charity\, Euan’s Guide\, that promises to make you question everything you thought travel had to look like and shows you what is possible with a little bit of effort and a drive to make it happen. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Film\n\n\n\nIn the Summer of 2025\, two friends decided to commit to the adventure of a lifetime and travel overland from London to Istanbul to avoid flying; a journey of joy\, challenge and spontaneity. A wedding to make\, five weeks to get there (and back!)\, minimal preparation\, many good strangers met and a lot of stories along the way. \n\n\n\nSomething like this would be a journey and a half for any pair of vagabonds\, but throw in to the mix zero bike-packing experience\, a high level spinal chord injury and all the added complications of a broke-neck-body while trying to navigate inaccessible infrastructure across 11 countries\, and you have a recipe for both magic and madness. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nReel to Real Cinema is a monthly film space in the Stove Café\, featuring an eclectic mixture of conversational films – from artist made shorts to feature length documentaries\, locally made to international cinema. A space for discussion and thought-provoking films\, you are welcome to join us after the film for a short discussion about the themes from this month’s selection.  \n\n\n\nSupported by Film Hub Scotland\, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network\, awarding funding on behalf of Screen Scotland and the BFI National Lottery. \n\n\n\nEvent Information\n\n\n\nFreeThis session will take place at The Stove Network and Cafe\, 100 High Street\, DumfriesThe Stove Café will be open from 5.30pm – 6:45pm with a pre-film dinner option alongside hot drinks and cakes. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility Information\n\n\n\nAccess to the BuildingLevel Access is available at the rear of the building through the adjacent close located to the left-hand side of the Café (when facing the front of the building).  \n\n\n\nHearing LoopWe have a hearing loop system installed in the café to support individuals using hearing aids or cochlear implants. \n\n\n\nPersonalised AssistanceIf you have any specific access needs\, please let us know\, and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
