Join the team at WWT Caerlaverock and Anne Arnold of Solway Woolscapes (currently exhibiting in the WWT gallery), for a selection of workshops comprising needlfelting, wool winding and weaving. Try a new skill under Anne’s tutelage using local fleece, some was even produced by our very own herd of Hebridean sheep!
Needlefelt a Landscape
11am & 2pm, 5th & 9th April
This is suitable for those who have never tried needlefelting All the materials and equipment will be supplied to create a landscape based on the colours of Dumfries and Galloway. The cost of the course includes all material, a foam pad, felting needle and a small mount for your picture.
Duration: 1 hour 30 mins
Cost: £10 with all proceeds going to the WWT
Suitable for adults. Children over 13 can also participate but we use very sharp needles and this should be considered before taking part as no responsibility is taken for injury or mis-use of the needle.

Wool Winding a Shoreline
10am-2pm, 5th & 9th April
This is a very quick project! Suitable for all ages, even the very young ones! Lots of colours and textures of yarn to choose from. Add a fabric seagull or puffin to complete the picture.
Duration: 45mins
Cost: minimum donation £1
Take home a completed picture ready to frame. Mounts will be available and extra kits at a small cost.

Learn to weave
10am-2pm, 5th & 9th April
Suitable for adults and children. A very easy craft to learn with lots of different yarns and fleece to choose from. We will also be using fleece from the Hebridean flock here at Caerlaverock.
Duration : 1 hour
Cost: minimum donation £1
Take home your project as well as a cardboard loom and plastic needle to create more at home.
