Part of the 2022 Year of Scotland’s Stories, join us for a special event exploring the magical space between live oral storytelling and cinema. Part of the Scotland-wide Map of Stories project, this film ceilidh event will mix live tales and aspects of filmed footage from award-winning filmmakers Transgressive North to explore a local sense of place in Dumfries and Galloway.
Tom Pow BIO:
Tom Pow has told stories from Iqaluit to Washington. The Village and The Road (performed with The Galloway Agreement) at the Fringe 2022, began with holding a storytelling workshop with David Campbell at the Storytelling Centre and with an improvised words and music workshop with Wendy Stewart at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival. His most recent poetry collection is Naranjas.
Wendy Stewart BIO:
Wendy Stewart is a leading Scottish harper, a world class performer and inspirational teacher whose style and repertoire encompasses both traditional music and her own compositions. She has produced 4 solo recordings, several music books and teaches all level of student, from beginner to graduate. These days, much of Wendy`s musical life and inspiration stems from her home range and community in bonny Glencairn in South West Scotland. She continues to explore musical connections with the natural world, the spoken word, dance and science with several commissions on the go! Wendy is also a member of local group The Galloway Agreement, who, with writer Tom Pow, are currently working on a theatre production of their show The Village and the Road.
