Fairground Walkabout: It’s a Fair History

Back by popular demand! Learn about the long history of the Dumfries Fun Fairs and the Travelling Showpeople who make them happen. Many Show families have been operating on the banks of the Nith for generations – Hear their stories while walking the path of our local fairgrounds, past and present. 

Hosted by Showman & Chair of the Scottish Section of the Showman’s Guild Alex James Colquhoun, Dumfries Fair Organiser Raynor Cadona, artist t s Beall, & special guests. 

Spaces are limited. Please dress for the weather. 

This walk is hosted in partnership with Fair Scotland, a new charity created to promote the heritage and future of Scotland’s Showpeople. 

Location: START LOCATION: Please gather on the east side of the Suspension Bridge aka ‘Biddall’s Bridge’ (Dockhead / A781)

Accessibility Details: The walking route is as accessible as the pedestrian walkways around the Whitesands and the event will be BSL interpreted.
